Womens Work Project - celebrating our story! From Nova Scotia to right around the globe "She works willingly with her hands"

Development of Womens Work Project began in August, 2006. Its inaugural presentation is planned for International Women's Day, 8 March 2008.

Future presentations are planned for a wide spectrum of women's groups, for example, Nova Scotia Advisory Council on the Status of Women, VON Quilt Auction and Sale, Oak Island Resort Women's Weekend, quilters guilds, women's shelters, schools, galleries and other interested parties who wish to celebrate and motivate women. Details will be announced on this website as bookings are finalized.

A group of five women, well-established in their respective fields and in the community, act as mentors for the project, and provide ongoing inspiration and motivation for the designer.

A number of sponsors have generously supported Womens Work Project with physical items such as fabric and jewellery featuring our logo and for creative talent.

Interviews with women involved in a broad spectrum of activities is ongoing. They range from a plastic surgeon working in Third World countries to a local potter and scrap book designer. These interviews and the accompanying photographs will provide the basis for the slide show and scrapbook.

A theme song is being written for the project. After the song's launch, we will offer it for downloading on this website.

Inspiring quotes will add worldly wisdom to uplift and motivate. Quilted wall hangings will depict the work of many women both in traditional roles and today's modern world. Textiles made by native women in Canada, Thailand, Laos and Africa will be part of the display. This website will grow to feature the women's stories and allow other women throughout the world to share theirs.
